The Blythes Are Coming! The Blythes Are Coming!

It has been *years* since I've collected Blythe dolls. in fact, less than 2 years ago, I gave my entire collection away! Five lovely girls, and a little case full of cute outfits and shoes. Why? It's a long story-- suffice it to say that I was having an epic meltdown over 10 years in the making and decided to clear out my storage unit once and for all. Gone-- all of the tubs of beautiful unwound skeins of yarn, and all the dolls and things that I haven't been able to put out, play with, or even LOOK at due to a huge lack of space. Tonners, Elfdoll BJDs, Blythes, Barbies- no one but my holy grail (Custom House Saint Mina) and the little Monnaemi Sisters and their friends Fairyland PukiPukis were spared. All the props, miniatures, instruments-- all of it, sent away to friends, thrift stores, and the Denver Museum of Dolls, Toys, and Miniatures. Fast forward to June 2020-- I bought a very cute fake Blythe off of eBay. I was feeling blue and her pictures just cheered my heart. When she came, I named her August. She has amazing blue hair that changes color to purple when the temperature changes. She is adorable.

Pew-Pew-Pew!

I then got busy sewing dresses and knitting cardigans for her, and realized she wanted to be a librarian and made her some eyeglasses chains as well... August is a librarian that knits... and plays the guitar, and sings, and dances, and models cute dresses.

She is just your basic all-loving, all-accepting, all-embracing Rock Star!

Rock n' Roll and Happy Pride!

I have had almost a year of non-stop fun with this Blythe. Did I regret giving away the others? Not really because I knew that the woman I gave them to was really thrilled to have them, and that knowledge definitely helped with the pain of having to get rid of my beloved collections in the first place. Would I take them back if sincerely offered from a good place (none of that guilt-ridden returns, please!) -- in a giant heartbeat! Needless to say, my sweet August marked the beginning of a small deluge of Blythe dolls arriving to a particular address in Westminster, CO. As it is with potato chips, you really can't have just one!
