30-day Poem Prompts by @beausia

April 2: "Meet Me"

MEET ME

Where did you go? You haven’t been home lately.

I see you going through the motions, struggling to remember

She looks like you, she sounds like you

But you are no longer here.

On the hill where stormy skies meet the winter grass-

Yellow and trampled under a season of snow.

There is a path leading in three directions-

Ferril Lake, the Museum, and a very small parking lot.

Past the bare trees and the empty flower beds

Over goose poop and the lost mitten-

Away from crowded paths, away from weekend laughter,

A lovely old log, some rocks, and there- a quiet spot.

Come with me so we can connect once again

To peer into moving clouds

Through sleeping branches spread so far.

As the ground warms, meet me, at 3 o’clock.
