LIFETIME WORK

See with loving eyes,

Listen with comprehending ears,

Be still in discomfort and silence.

Laugh at the delightful,

Engage in play with all of your might,

Rest with the sound of your heart singing in your head.

Cry at the incomprehensible,

Grieve the loss of love, friends, and life,

Bloom amongst the overgrown weeds and abandoned bottles.

Respond to that small voice urging compassion and action,

Love the overlooked hopeful and “lonelies”

Sitting at big empty tables in crowded fellowship rooms.

Practice forgiveness and grace,

Stand up for the defenseless, take a knee when your voice cracks.

Never alone, though, He is always there.

We have so much to learn and be,

Yet so limited is our time this side of heaven.

This is our Lifetime Work, and it’s not finished until the very end.
